Apps for Democarcy "Community Edition" is a technology development contest that seeks the best possible community platform for DC Citizens to submit service request through the country's 1st Open 311 API.

There are $34,000 in potential prizes up for grabs. By the end of June, it's possible for 1 team to win $16,000 and a total of $30,000 if all criterial are met. (Watch this video for a full explaination or read this blog post for full details).

Please RSVP to this event to attend our Open Source Code Jam on June 6th in Washington, DC (Breakfast: coffee + donuts; Lunch: pizza)  We'll spend the first couple hours talking through the insights gathered from DC citizens in May, as well as potential approaches like using:

*If you want to lead a 15 minute session on one of these technologies, please choose the "Present on Open Source Tech" ticket and let us know what you'll talk about. You don't need slides...the web will do just fine.

You're free to work on your prototype on Saturday - or just attend because you love open source/Apps for Democracy. On Sunday, we won't meet physically, and you should plan to work with on your app alone or with a team as the first round submissions are due Sunday night by Midnight.
